The National e-Governance Division (NeGD), under the Digital India Corporation (DIC), Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, has officially released the Technical Summer Internship Programme 2026. This internship provides students and recent graduates an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on industry experience while working on live government technology projects.

Selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of ₹20,000 and will work with experienced professionals in various technology domains including Software Development, Artificial Intelligence, Data Engineering, Cyber Security Testing, DevOps, UI/UX Design, Business Analysis, and Database Management.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

Educational Qualification

  • Engineering Graduate or equivalent with at least 75% marks.
  • Engineering Post-Graduate or equivalent with at least 75% marks.

Internship Domains and Vacancy Distribution

1. Software Development (Java/PHP/Python/NodeJS/.NET)

Vacancies: 06

Responsibilities:

  • Develop web-based applications
  • Create REST APIs
  • Integrate third-party services
  • Debug backend applications
  • Follow secure coding practices
  • Work on scalable application architecture

2. UI/UX Designer & Frontend Developer

  • Design responsive websites
  • Ensure GIGW compliance
  • Create UI designs using Figma
  • Develop frontend applications using React, Angular, JavaScript, and TypeScript
  • Ensure mobile responsiveness

3. Product Testing / Security Testing / QA

Responsibilities:

  • Perform VAPT assessments
  • Conduct security testing
  • Write test plans and test cases
  • Use Selenium and Postman
  • Perform manual and automated testing
  • Report software defects

4. Database Programmer

  • Manage MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB databases
  • Optimize database performance
  • Implement backup and recovery mechanisms

5. Business Analyst

Selection Process

The selection process consists of:

  1. Shortlisting based on academic performance.
  2. Interview or evaluation by the internal selection committee.
  3. Additional preference for candidates holding relevant certifications.

Meeting minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee selection.

  • Internship Duration: 6 Months
  • Internship Mode: Offline
  • Internship Period: July 2026 to December 2026

Selected candidates must visit the organization regularly and follow NeGD working hours.


Stipend and Benefits

Selected interns will receive:

Monthly Stipend

₹20,000 per month

The stipend will be released after satisfactory performance certification by the assigned mentor every 30 days.

Internship Certificate

Candidates who successfully complete the six-month internship and maintain satisfactory performance and attendance will receive an official Internship Certificate from NeGD.
